Vallejo Outreach a big hit with families

Published Saturday July 16

By Richard Freedman, Vallejo Times-Herald

Sergeant Brent Garrick wasn’t arresting anybody. And Medic Ambulance wasn’t rushing anyone to the emergency room.

And that was the point of participating in the 23rd Vallejo Outreach on Sat along the waterfront.

“We want to be as visible as plausable and don’t want to only be seen sitting in the black and white ,” remarked Garrick. “This is an opportunity for people to sit with us and ask questions. And a lot of children are in awe when they come up because it’s the first time to see an officer up close and personal.”

Free shoes were the most significant addition this year, with more than 650 pairs donated.
