Fifth Spare the Air alert in a row issued for Friday

Published Thursday July 28

The 5th consecutive Spare the Air alert is called for Fri in the Bay Area as summer smog and smoke from the Soberanes wild fire continue to foul the air.

A ridge of high pressure will linger Fri bringing more smog-brewing weather conditions with temperatures in the high 90s in Concord and Livermore and in the low 90s in San Jose.

Cooler temperatures and less dirty air are expected Sat as the high pressure ridge weakens, predicts the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
